About Father Jay Fostner
Psychologist and St. Norbert Administrator
A resident of De Pere, Wisconsin, Father Jay Fostner is a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified Catholic pastoral counselor. He has worked at St. Norbert College for over 20 years, starting out as a counselor and assistant professor in 1997 before being appointed to director in 2001, vice president of mission and heritage in 2005, and finally vice president of mission and student affairs, his current position. Father Jay Fostner oversees a staff of more than 70 working in the college’s counseling, health, campus safety, judicial affairs, and housing divisions.
During his tenure as vice president, Father Fostner and his team have achieved significant successes, increasing student of color retention to 90 percent from 40 percent, acquiring and upgrading residential halls to improve housing, merging two college divisions into one, and improving the Catholic school’s relationship with the Diocese. He has also played critical roles in the college’s endowments, notably helping to secure $1.2 million from the Sturzl Center for Service and Learning and $1 million from the Norman Miller Center for Peace, Justice and Understanding.
Father Fostner is currently leading the college’s construction of a holistic wellness center and fundraising efforts to build a Center for Leadership, as well as working with staff to incorporate mission and co-curricular work into learning. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, cooking, and water skiing.Experiences
